According to Jewish teaching, the ten commandments were received on Mount Sinai, by a man named Moses. He had just led Hebrew slaves out of Egypt, and into the wilderness. He went up to Mount Sinai to receive the direction and will of God. It is said (in the Holy Bible) that tablets of the stone on the mountain are where the 'hand of God' wrote the commandments. (all of this is in Exodus of the Holy Bible, by the way) <=== just in case you wanted to do more research

I hope this helps!
