PLZZZ HELP ITS PAST DUE AND REALLY NEED HELP
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

  • The story revolves around a mysterious cursed talisman—a monkey’s paw that symbolizes greed—everything that its owner could possibly wish for and the unrestricted ability to make it happen. This power makes the paw alluring, even to unselfish people who desire nothing and have everything they need. Mr. White, for example, is eager to procure the paw, even though he admits he is in need of nothing and is unsure of what to wish for. Herbert jokingly suggests that his father wish for money, which he does not need, just for the sake of it. This thought process illustrates how easily the paw can sway minds. The paw represents greed and brings out the selfish desire dormant in even the most content people. The wish is granted, but with unexpected, sinister consequences.

  • Keeping in mind the motif of three, one of the most common representations of a group of three in Western culture is the Holy Trinity from Christianity. It refers to Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. The monkey's paw hails from a faraway land where it was cursed by an Indian holy man – making it an anti-Christian symbol. Hence it disregards Christianity and the Holy Trinity, bringing unfortunate consequences to the family that indulges in it.

Can someone help with putting commas
valentinak56 [21]
Here are the answers to the given question above.
1. RESTRICTIVE; no commas needed.
2. RESTRICTIVE; no commas needed.
3. NONRESTRICTIVE; commas are needed.
4. NONRESTRICTIVE; commas are needed.
5. RESTRICTIVE; no commas needed.
When we say restrictive clause, this is the clause in the sentence that serves as an additional description to the given subject, but it is an essential clause and cannot be omitted in the sentence. On the other hand, nonrestrictive clause is the clause opposite to restrictive. This can be omitted and is usually enclosed in commas.

ser-zykov [4K]

This question is about the book "Angela's Ashes".

Answer and Explanation:

Humor increases the effectiveness of the text because it makes it lighter and more enjoyable. This is because even in the midst of pathetic situations, as shown in the question above, the book portrays very serious and uncomfortable elements such as hunger, disease, extreme poverty, death and hopelessness. McCourt's use of humps relieves this feeling of discomfort and makes the book more effective, as it can deliver a message.

I believe that I would have liked it less if the humor in the book was homitized, because it would take away that relief and let only all the obscurity of the story and all the discomfort consume me as a reader and leave a heavy, slow and demotivating reading.
