Olaudah Equiano was terrified when he first saw the slave ship. His fear of the future was so horrible, he passed out cold. He k

new by looking at his captors that he was never going to get home again. Because they looked so different than he and the other enslaved people looked, he knew what his future held. Even the conditions aboard the ship were horrible. The smells were awful and made Olaudah Equiano feel sick. When he refused to eat, he was beaten. What about this summary makes it objective? Check the three best answers. The writer used first-person words like “I” and “me.” The language doesn’t include the writer’s reactions or judgments. The three best answers are:

  • The language doesn´t include the writer's reactions or judgements.
  • The language includes only the emotions that Olaudah Equiano described.
  • The writer avoided using loaded language.

When writing an objective summary it is necessary to focus on the principal theme or main idea of a text, as well as any particular, important detail that supports that idea. Every detail that is considered unnecessary has to be left out.

By objective it is meant that the writer avoids inserting his or her own point of view, reaction or perception about the text into the summary. This is why a summary that is considered objective should not be written in the first person "I" voice.

WHAT TO THE SLAVE IS THE FOURTH OF JULY?
mezya [45]

The tone of Frederick Douglass' speech is <em>Forceful, angry.</em> In this excerpt there are some rhetoric questions which convey strong meaning and provide power to the speech, for instance:  <em>"and am I, therefore, called upon to bring our humble offering to the national altar, and to confess the benefits, and express devout gratitude for the blessings, resulting from your independence to us??" </em>

Also Douglass' speech includes statements that clearly express how angry Douglass was about an American Independence in which they were still segregated and not included at all. For example:  <em>"I say it with a sad sense of the disparity between us. I am not included within the pale of this glorious anniversary!"</em> or the following question: "Do you mean, citizens, to mock me, by asking me to speak to-day?" He sounds really offended by the fact that he was invited to speak about independence or liberty when slaves abounded in the US.

When the football team won the Super Bowl, the coach told reporters that he was glad.Which technique does this sentence best ill
lyudmila [28]
The technique that this sentence best illustrates is understatement.
Understatement means that you are not showing the full 'strength' of something, but it is rather understated - so here, the coach only said that 'he was glad' even though his team won the Super Bowl, which is a huge deal. So his emotions should have been way stronger.
