Willie Mays was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979 with two MVP awards, 12 Golden Gove awards and 660 home runs. He was given the Presidental Medal of Freedom in 2015 by President Obama for having made 'meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States'.
