From 1500 forward Europeans like Spanish and Portuguese started to use African Slaves and send them to the Americas and started big commerce of Slave Trade in the Atlantic. The Middle Passage was a triangular trade in which millions of Africans were transported, the passage was some kind of triangular and connected Africa, Europe, and the Americas. This Middle Passage that made the commerce of slave explode around the 1500s which did not occur before. The problem was that to make more profit the Europeans would pile up many people inside boats to cross the Atlantic. Many died inside ships and many would-be thrown alive in the Ocean as a way to relieve the weight.

Which questions did the Supreme Court evaluate in McCulloch v. Maryland?
zhenek [66]

Which is supreme, the state governments or the federal government?

McCulloch v. Maryland addressed the issue of Maryland taxing the National Bank.

In this case, the state of Maryland attempted to tax the National Bank. The representative of the Bank refused to pay the taxes. The Court sided with the Bank stating the Federal government had the right to have a bank under the "necessary and proper clause". Additionally the ruling stated that the Federal government has supremacy over the state.
