Martin Luther King, Jr., "A Time to Break Silence: Speech Against the Vietnam War

The five steps are:

1. End the bombing

2. Commit the U.S. to a unilateral cease-fire

3. Curtail the build-up of American troops in Laos and Thailand

4. Recognize the NLF as a legitimate party in negotiations

5. Set a date for withdrawal.

The preceding part of his argument was:

" King ends this penultimate section by quoting a Buddhist leader who had once admired the United States but who, from his experience of the war, concluded that America could never again be a revolutionary country for freedom. Its fate after Vietnam would be chiefly to be known and feared for its relentless use of military power."

This proposals are related because he wanted to stop war. He recalled how the U.S was feared for its use of military power. He wanted to have a change in the way war was being managed.

The witness's voice was steady and firm as she averred, "That is the man I saw."
Agata [3.3K]

If we imagine ourselves in the scene in which the witness speaks with a firm and confident voice saying "that is the man I saw", the most probable thing is that it convinces us because she is very sure of herself, the witness does not doubt it for a moment, she/he is stating it.

The word averred can be replaced by stated since they have the same meaning. Other synonims can be claim, declare or affirm.

Read the excerpt from a short story.
Aleonysh [2.5K]

It forces readers to grapple with their own mortality.

Explanation:

Danse Macabre is about “dance of death” that was considered as a “dance” that everyone should know as everyone will die one day.

It is a Halloween story told to kids even today, in which the musical instruments play and dance.

It uses allegory to symbolize the power of death. Even in the excerpt we see Riya grappling with the obstacles on her way. The idea of the inevitable seeps in through these lines unconsciously.

Stephen King has often been regarded as one of the greatest writers of Horror stories. This story particularly builds upon an old French myth that revolves around the idea of death.
