France’s fiscal crisis in the late 1780s was as a result of bad harvests, debt and deficit spending. The excesses of the royal family and the resultant strain from servicing old debts ultimately caused conflict within the monarchy and contributed to nationwide unrest which ended with the French Revolution of 1789.

List the measures that were taken by the National Convention to secure a new government for France.
zalisa [80]
The National Convention voted to adopt the metric system of measurement during the era of revolution and reform in France. The national convention did pass many helpful reforms. French laws were organized into a code, a national system of public education was set up, slavery was abolished in French colonies, and the metric system of weights and measurements was adopted. Many of these were never put into full effect because of the collapse of the revolution. Yet, even these could not help the unpopularity of the Convention after the Reign of Terror.
