Don't be fooled. The first thing Wyatt did was multiply through by 2. The left and right sides were both multiplied by two which makes it 12 on the right and 2x + (6x - 4) on the left. The 1/2 is gone on the left.
It only looks like he used the distributive property because the brackets were removed between recorded steps.
The second thing he did was to collect like terms on the left.
The third thing he did was to add four on both sides of the left and right.
The last thing he did was to divide by 8.
Both A and C are wrong. He did not use the distributive property in any of those steps.
