Simplify both sides of the equation.
10 + -9 =  \frac{1}{11}y \ \textgreater \  (10 + -9)  \frac{1}{11}y (Combine the like terms) \ \textgreater \  1 =  \frac{1}{11}y \ \textgreater \
Then you want to flip the equation.
\frac{1}{11}y = 1
Then you want to Multiply both sides by 11!
11 * ( \frac{1}{11}y) = 11 * 1 \ \textgreater \  y = 11
