F(x) = 2x-8
 so when x=4 replace x with 4 to get 2(4)-8 which equals 8-8 = 0
 so f(4) = 0
 and from the table when the input (x) is 4, the output (y) is 9

9 is greater than 0 , so the table has a greater value when x = 4

Find the solutions to x2 = 24.
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

x = ± 2\sqrt{6}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x² = 24 ( take the square root of both sides )

x = ± \sqrt{24} = ± \sqrt{4(6)} = ± \sqrt{4} × \sqrt{6} = ± 2\sqrt{6}

Volume of a rectangular prism is length * width * height.

The figure can be broken into 3 different prisms. Left to right, I'd label them 1st tower, connecting base, 2nd tower.

I'll do the 2nd tower first since it has the most measurements. 5 * 5 * 12 = 25 * 12 = 300

The first and second towers are congruent so they have the same measurements; we just do 300 + 300 to find their volumes. It's 600.

Now, to find the connecting piece. The whole bottom length of this "U" shaped figure is 18 but the two towers have lengths of 5. To find the base of the portion we're looking for, we do 18 - 2(5) = 18 - 10 = 8. To find the height, we take away the top part of the second tower (7 m) from the whole height (12 m). 12 - 7 = 5. The width is given by the towers so we have what we need to solve.

8 * 5 * 5 = 40 * 5 = 200

Now add the volumes all together.

600 + 200 = 800

The figure has a volume of 800 cubic meters or 800 m³.

A bus can hold 42 students
dsp73

Answer:

10, there will be 20 left open

Step-by-step explanation:

if each bus holds 42 students and there are 400 going then you need to divide 400 by 42, and then round up, to find how many seats will be left open, you take the answer and then multiply it by 42 and then subtract 400.

sorry for not putting my work last time.

A team of ranger marked 24 squirrels in a park. Later, a class counted 480 squirrels, 16 of which were marked. To the nearest wh
Hitman42 [59]

Answer: 720

Step-by-step explanation:

480 : 16 marked

480-16 = 464

They saw 464 unmarked squirrels and 16 marked squirrels

464/16 = 29

They saw 29 unmarked squirrels for every 1 makes squirrel

29 * 24 = 696

They would have seen 696 unmarked squirrels for the 24 marked squirrels.

696 + 24 = 720

10 points someone help me please!?
Soloha48 [4]

Answer:

\large\boxed{b=\sqrt{95}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the Pyhagorean theorem:

leg^2+leg^2=hypotenuse^2

We have

leg=b,\ leg=7,\ hypotenuse=12

Substitute:

b^2+7^2=12^2

b^2+49=144       <em>subtract 49 from both sides</em>

b^2=95\to b=\sqrt{95}
