I noticed that in the excerpt it talks about events showing how harsh and racist many were towards the African race. I also noticed that the part where it is said as "We are fighting a sense of "nobodyness." This is why we can no longer wait" Shows that they are treated as nobody, and waiting is very difficult for the African race to wait for rights, respect, and equality.
