The animal was most likely a carnivore, or omnivore, it ate meat, or meat and plants, the sharp teeth are used for tearing through the flesh and meat of smaller animals, and they could’ve been used to break down and grind up plants.

Instead, it favors traits that are beneficial (that is, help an organism survive and reproduce more effectively than its peers) in a specific environment. Traits that are helpful in one environment might actually be harmful in another.
