Why did the colonists dislike the boston tea party?

Because the British were putting tax on the shipment of tea into America. It angered the colonists, so in 1773, members of the Sons of Liberty dumped crates of tea into Boston harbor as a protest against the Tea Act and its provisions for taxation of tea.
