They would later be dismantled because of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Khrushchev certainly didn't agree to allow American forces to occupy Cuba and Remove Castro. The U.S. didn't back down, President Kennedy stood his ground and eventually Khrushchev removed the missile sites from Cuba. Lastly, Kennedy and Khrushchev didn't divide the island of Cuba between the U.S. and the USSR.
