What was the name of President Theodore Roosevelt's plan to protect working-class citizens by breaking up bad trusts?
Anarel [89]

Answer:( NOT SURE)

President Theodore Roosevelt was very concerned that all people should be treated fairly. When businesses acted in their self-interest and put the public’s interests in danger, he wasn’t afraid to act. This idea of treating everybody fairly was known as the Square Deal.

President Roosevelt used the Sherman Antitrust Act to deal with businesses that were only focused on their own self-interest. When the creation of the Northern Securities Company nearly led to an economic crisis, President Roosevelt filed suit against the company. The Supreme Court ruled the company had to dissolve. In 1902 when the owners of the coal mines refused to make any compromises to the workers as a way to resolve the coal strike, President Roosevelt threatened to have the government run the mines. He was concerned the public wouldn’t have enough coal to heat their homes as the strike dragged on and as winter approached. Eventually, arbitration was used to end the strike.

President Roosevelt took other actions to be sure businesses were acting fairly. The Bureau of Corporations was established to monitor businesses. The Hepburn Act gave the Interstate Commerce Commission the power to set railroad rates. The Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act were laws passed to protect consumers. Meat would have to be inspected before it could be sold. It was illegal to falsely label food and medicines.

President Roosevelt believed all people should be treated fairly. His Square Deal programs and policies reflected that belief.

Many Renaissance artists painted religious themes, which was typical during the Middle Ages. Do you think they should be thought
telo118 [61]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Indeed, many Renaissance artists painted religious themes, which was typical during the Middle Ages. However, I don't think they should be thought of as medieval artists rather than Renaissance ones because of the following reasons.

First, these artists from Renaissance considere4d themselves different because they wanted to emulate the fantastic work of the classic Greeks and Romans. These artists of the Reinassance wanted to imitate the beauty of ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture.

Another reason is that these artists used different techniques and more vivid colors in their paintings, compared to those from the medieval times

The Renaissance led to major artistic, social, and political changes in Europe. The Renaissance was a time in which authors, thinkers, and artists discover the importance of humans and their capacity to use the mind to reason and not only believe in the religious teachings that dominated and controlled people during the dark ages of the Medieval Times. Renaissance witnessed the advent of magnificent artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci. Michel Angelo, and Rafael.

Explain why the Articles of Confederation proved too weak to meet the needs of the 13 new states. Describe at least two examples
Elodia [21]

The Articles of Confederation were far too weak to meet the needs of the newly created United States because of the massive decentralization the Articles contained.

They did not give the government any right to tax the people, and had to ask the states for taxes, and the states were not keen to pay them unless it benefited them. Often found were states not contributing to the pay of the Continental Army because it was not in their territory and defending them. This was also the reason Valley Forge was a disastrous winter for the Continental Army.

The Constitution fixed this by mandating budgets and making sure the states did in fact pay dues to the Gov't, later amended with (the supposed temporary) Federal income tax, starting after The Great War.

The other big failure is the lack of a requirement delegates be there, and the fact it requires every state to vote yes, an amendment to let the Confederation place import taxes to help pay the army was a washed failure because Rhode Island feared having their economy impacted horribly as they were so small they only had trade.

The New Constitution fixed this by making it so 3/4 of the states had to vote Aye to an amendment to the Constitution itself, and made the Federal Government itself handle passes legislation at it's own level with a majority rules, rather than all.

A four episode series from Extra History delve with a good amount of detail as to the Articles' other short comings, and what I elaborated on. Would strongly recommend a watch: https://youtu.be/C6rHSiN0vKk
