Penelope was living alone with her son when the suitors realized that Odysseus would not return. They were trying to gain her hand in marriage while her husband was gone in order to gain control over Ithaca. The suitors are rude and bad-mannered. They have killed and eaten all of their families livestock and have damaged parts of their home. Because of these reasons, and the horrible and indecent way that they treat his mother, Penelope, Telemachus wants them removed from his home. Out of these suitors, Antinous is the worse. He is very arrogant and treats Penelope horribly. He is never shown to be a nice or kind person. He had previously arranged for Telemachus to die when he left on a journey. He Antinous believes that Telemachus is part of the reason that Penelope will not be remarried, and thus decides to get rid of him. For those reasons, Antinous is the worse of Penelope's suitors.
