(a) An angle measures 86 degrees . What is the measure of its supplement?
Molodets [167]

Answer:

The supplement is 94

Step-by-step explanation:

Supplementary angles add to 180 degrees

Let x be the supplementary angle

x+86 = 180

Subtract 86 from each side

x+86-86 =180-86

x = 94

4 unknowns needs 4 equations. I'll call the unknown numbers a,b,c,d in that order left to right.

4 + a = b
a + b = c
b + c = d
c + d = 67

let's use substitution to get rid to combine equations and get rid of variables.
If a + b = c then a = c - b
4 + (c - b) = b
4 + c = 2b

If b + c = d then b = d - c
4 + c = 2(d - c)
4 + c = 2d - 2c
4 + 3c = 2d

then we have c + d = 67 so c = 67 - d

4 + 3(67 - d) = 2d
4 + 201 - 3d = 2d
205 = 5d
d = 41

Should be easy now, subtract backwards.

67 - 41 = 26
41 - 26 = 15
26 - 15 = 11
15 - 11 = 4

4, 11, 15, 26, 41, 67

Liula [17]

Answer:

20/2.5 =? (Answer is 8)

Step-by-step explanation:

Aaden needs 40 points.

He gets 20 at the start, just for signing up, so he needs only 20 now.

If he gets 2.5 points for each visit, after 8 days he will have been given 20 more points, allowing him to get a free movie ticket.

Is an imaginary "line" from the Earth to the Moon a line, a ray, or a segment? and WHY?
sesenic [268]

Answer:

Segment

Step-by-step explanation:

It is a segment because it has two endpoints (the Earth and Moon). If it was a ray, it would go on forever in one direction. It doesn't, so the imaginary line is a segment.

The first image is a segment, the second is a ray.

Hope this helps. :)

When the points below are connected, they will form triangle ABC. Show and state whether this triangle has a right angle or not.
cluponka [151]

Answer:

See explanartions below

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the coordinates A(-6,3) B(0,5) C(2,-1)

We first need to get the slope of AB, BC and AC

For AB;

A(-6,3) B(0,5)

Mab = 5-3/0-(-6)

Mab = 2/6

Mab = 1/3

For BC;

B(0,5) C(2,-1)

Mbc = -1-5/2-0

Mbc = -6/2

Mc = -3

For AC:

A(-6,3) C(2,-1)

Mac = -1-3/2-(-6)

MAc = -4/8

Mac = -1/2

Taking the product of Mab and Mbc

Mab * Mbc = 1/3 + -3

Mab * Mbc = -1

Since the product of Mab and Mbc is -1, hence AB abd BC are perpendicular showing that one of the angle of triangle ABC is 90 degrees
