Robert Owens was one of the founding members of Utopian Socialism. He bought the New Lanark textile mill in 1799 and became its manager next year. he wants to create higher principles for the mill than just commercial ones. He hired some 2000 people out of the 500 were children. He provided for health housing and education of his employers which represent his socialist ideas.
