The Anti-imperialist league formed to fight U.S. annexation of the Philippines, citing a variety of reasons ranging from the economic to the legal to the racial to the moral. It included among its members such notables as Andrew Carnegie, Mark Twain, William James, David Starr Jordan, and Samuel Gompers with George S. Boutwell, former secretary of the Treasury and Massachusetts, as its president. Following the signing of the Treaty of Paris, the league began to decline and eventually disappeared.

Supposed Aliens and sedition acts was passed to punish those who opposed the federal laws and regulations. However, it was Thomas Jefferson who thought that this act may affect the Bill of Human rights, so he decided to make an equally unconstitutional doctrine that states if a government would implement a law, a state could refuse to follow it.  John Calhoun, soon adapted the Nullification doctrine</span></span>

They attacked only at night under the cover of darkness. Their tactic was to engage in small skirmishes in the South Vietnamese countryside where they were familiar with the area. They used guerilla warfare and had their trip wires and pits with sharpened bamboo stakes to demobilize the enemy. After the battle, they escaped back to the jungle.
