Five men completed a task in 36 hours and 45 minutes. How long in hours and minutes would it take three men to complete the same
TiliK225 [7]
The easiest way for me to do this is by the mins.

There are 60 mins in 1 hour so do 36 x 60

then add 45

so you're working with 2,205 mins. So let's divide by the 3 men instead...

735 now lets reverse engineer this...

735 / 60(mins)

12 hours 25 mins...

now lets add that to our original....

49 hours and 5 mins.

I could be wrong but as far as I'm looking at it seems like a good way to answer. anyone is welcome to check my work.

Another way to look at this is the same 2205 mins, but as a fraction 5/5 3/5

3/5 is .60 percent of 5/5 so multiply 2205 by .60

264.6

now divide by 60 4.41

Now add to first...

41 hours 43 mins

Phil is riding his bike. He rides 46 miles in 4 hours, 57.5 miles in 5 hours, and 69 miles in 6 hours. Find the constant of prop
FromTheMoon [43]

Answer:

The constant of proportionality k = 11.5.

The equation will be: \mathbf{y=11.5(x)}

Step-by-step explanation:

If x represents number of hours than y represents miles

We are given:

x        y

4         46

5         57.5

6         69

The constant of proportionality can be found using formula: k=\frac{y}{x}

Putting values and finding k

x        y               k (k=\frac{y}{x})

4         46            11.5

5         57.5         11.5

6         69            11.5

So, the constant of proportionality k = 11.5

Now, The equation will be:

k=\frac{y}{x}\\or \\y=kx\\Put \ k=11.5\\y=11.5(x)

So, the equation will be: \mathbf{y=11.5(x)}

You are driving from Show Low to Portland, Oregon. The trip will be 1,345 miles total. So
dusya [7]

\huge \boxed{\mathfrak{Question} \downarrow}

  • You are driving from Show Low to Portland, Oregon. The trip will be 1,345 miles total. So far, you have driven 3/5 of the way to Portland. How many miles do you have left to drive?

\large \boxed{\mathfrak{Answer \: with \: Explanation} \downarrow}

  • Miles to be driven in total = <u>1, 345 miles</u>
  • Fraction of miles driven = <u>3/5</u>
  • Fraction of miles left to be driven = <u>2/5</u> [5/5 - 3/5 = 2/5]
  • Miles left to be driven = ?

Now, let's solve it.

\sf1345 \times  \frac{2}{5}  \\  \sf =  \bcancel{1345} \times  \frac{2}{ \bcancel{5}}  \\ \sf  = 269 \times 2 \\ =    \boxed{ \boxed{ \bf \: 538}}

  • So, the miles left to be driven by you is <em><u>5</u></em><em><u>3</u></em><em><u>8</u></em><em><u> </u></em><em><u>miles.</u></em>
