France came to Vietnam in year 1858 as they made their way defeating the Chinese in the so-called Franco-Chinese War. The French would cover a huge area to be called later Indochina and with a strong presence over Vietnam.

As the French came, so did Western ideals : religion, educaction, Chrisianity.

Regions seized by French included Annam, Tonkin , Cochinchina, these territories saw how French rule ended:

A century later Communists took in May 1954 the government and sucesfully expeled the Frencn and foreign influence creating a socialist regime.

The remarkable fact is that many former colonnies were given support from the Socialist world in order to replicate a model of socialism.

<em>Vietnam became the clear scenario where the foreign intervention was shortened and legacy of the socialism would last until today.</em>
