Solution:

Let OA=a, OB=b, and OC=c

Then OP=2a and OQ=3b

OA+AB=OB ⇒ AB=b-a

OP+PQ=OQ ⇒ PQ = 3b-2a

OC+CQ = OQ ⇒ CQ = 3b-c

QM= -\frac{1}{2} PQ = a-\frac{3}{2}b

OM=OQ+QM = 3b + a-\frac{3}{2}b = a+\frac{3}{2}b

OM+MB=OB=>MB = b-(a+\frac{3}{2}b) = -a-\frac{1}{2}b

(i) AB = b-a

(ii) PQ = 3b-2a

(iii) CQ = 3b-c

(iv) QM = a-\frac{3}{2}b

(v) MB =  -a-\frac{1}{2}b

(vi) OM = a+\frac{3}{2}b

Dev lost a total of 3.5 pounds by dieting and exercising over the course of 2.5 months. What was the change in Dev’s weight, on
elena-s [515]

We are required to find the average change in weight each month.

The average weight lost each month is 1.4 pounds

<em>Total weight lost</em> = 3.5 pounds

<em>Number of months </em>= 2.5 months

<em>Average weight lost each month = Total weight lost / Number of months</em>

= 3.5 pounds / 2.5 months

= 1.4 pounds per month

Therefore, the average weight lost each month is 1.4 pounds

6x-y=-23 8x+3y=-9 Substition method (Show it step by step please!)
Tanya [424]

Answer:

solution is (- 3, 5 )

Step-by-step explanation:

given the 2 equations

6x - y = - 23 → (1)

8x + 3y = - 9 → (2)

rearrange (1) expressing y in terms of x

y = 6x + 23 → (3)

Substitute y = 6x + 23 into (2)

8x + 3(6x + 23 ) = - 9

8x + 18x + 69 = - 9

26x + 69 = - 9 ( subtract 69 from both sides )

26x = - 78 ( divide both sides by 26 )

x = - 3

substitute x = - 3 into (3)

y = (6 × - 3 ) + 23 = - 18 + 23 = 5

solution is (- 3, 5 )

The height of an object dropped from the top of a 144-foot building is given by ℎ(. How long will it take the object to hit the
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation: h(t) = -16t2 + 144

h(1) = -16(12) + 144 = 128 ft

h(2) = -16(22) + 144 = 80 ft

h(2) - h(1) = 80 - 128 = -48 ft

It fell 48 ft between t = 1 and t = 2 seconds.

It reaches the ground when h(t) = 0

0 = -16t2 + 144

t = √(144/16) s = 3s

It reaches the ground 3s after being dropped.
