To open areas for agriculture, woods, jungles, and so many other biomes are just demolished. Agriculture also uses a LOT of water, so much so that it comes to the point of being wasteful. Agriculture also contributes to soil erosion.

The Europeans viewed new world races as an opportunity for slaves and an opportunity to have farmhands. The repercussions of their choices are still affecting us today.
