I would have to say that what he did was not a really good Idea, I mean Losing 15 years of his life is bad and throwing away TWO MILLIONS. But that's not what I would do you have to get punished for something in life or you will never learn. It will probably convince people that everything in this world has gone wrong and that people have bad ideas. I think this motivated the backed to wager the bet because he was getting more money into his work and there is NO way for anyone to take it from him

Hope this helps

The banker decided to wager the bet in order to prove a point and to fulfill his desire of witnessing a greedy man's downfall (the lawyer).

This situation can be considered as a matter of personal justice according to the banker's description of the lawyer as a "well-fed man" with "pure-greed of gold"; the banker didn't want to see the lawyer get away from the hands of what they thought of as justice.

Even though the banker hesitated a bit in their decision, they ended up compelling themselves to believe they did the right thing.

Identify each italicized word as gerund or participle.
mr_godi [17]
The word wishing is used as a participle in this case. Although gerunds and participles look the same, they are used in different senses - gerunds generally denote nouns, whereas participles have more of an adverbial meaning.
