Answer and Step-by-step explanation:

Let's~solve~the~first~question!

Overdrawn ~amount = $27

So~ Steve~ has ~negative~$ $27~in~his~account.

Bank ~charge = $15 ~which~ Steve ~has ~to ~pay~ to~ the~ bank.

So ~Steve's~ account~ has~ negative $7 ~plus~ negative $15

Altogether~we~have:

(27+15)=42

As ~he ~deposits $100,~ this ~negative $42 ~will~ be ~deducted ~from ~the ~newly~ available~ amount.

so, 100-42=58

Thus,he~is~left~with~58~in~his~account.

<em><u>Answer and explanation for question 2:</u></em>

<em><u /></em>Let's ~make ~par ~equal~ to~ zero~ and ~strokes~ more ~than ~par,~ positive~ and\\ strokes~ less ~than~ par,~ negative. ~ In ~golf,~ the ~lower~ your~ score,~ the~ better\\ so ~negative ~numbers ~are ~good.\\<em><u /></em>

<em><u /></em>

<em><u /></em>par = 0\\2 birdies = 2 (-1) = -2\\eagle = -2\\4 bogies = 4(1) = +4\\double bogie = +2\\<em><u /></em>

<em><u /></em>

<em><u /></em>0 - 2 - 2 + 4 + 2 = +2 ~which~ is~ 2 ~points~ above ~par.<em><u /></em>

Answer:

1. Steve's current balance is $58.

2. 2 points above par

3. 1052 feet

4. -6.4°F

5. Hightop Roofing lost more money between June and December. $5000 more.

6. y = -0.625

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Steve is on negative 27 balance because of overdrawing. So his balance is -27. For this, bank charged him 15 as overdraft fee. So now his balance is 15 less than that. His balance now is  -27-15=-42.

Then he deposited <em>(added)</em> 100 in his account. But remember, the bank gets 42 from him, so that will be subtracted from 100. So now his balance is 100-42=58

Steve's current balance is $58.

2. According to the question, lets take par as 0 <em>(reference point)</em>. Anything below par is negative & above par is positive.Similarly we can assign numbers to the following:

Birdie is -1

Eagle is -2

Bogie +1

Double Bogie +2

<em><u>Frank's score is 1 par, 2 birdie, 1 eagle, 4 bogie, & 1 double bogie</u></em>. Adding the respective points for these, we get:

1(0)+2(-1)+1(-2)+4(+1)+1(+2)=2

Since par is considered a 0 (reference), a score of 2 is "2 points above par".

3. Let's take the sea-level as 0 <em>(reference point). </em>The distance between them is thus 973 (above sea-level) added with 79 (below sea-level).

The distance = 973+79=1052

4. To get average we add add the numbers and divide the sum by the number of numbers (in this case, 5).

Average = \frac{(-12)+(-8)+(-3)+(6)+(-15)}{5}=-6.4

The average temperature is -6.4°F

5. "RED" zone means they owe money. At end of december, the "RED" zone increase, that means they owed MORE money. By how much? By:

8765-3765=5000

So, Hightop Roofing lost more money between June and December by $5000.

6.  This problem is simply arithmetic problem of calculating the given values. So we have:

y=5-(3.750-0.500)-2.375\\y=5-(3.250)-2.375\\y=5.000-3.250-2.375\\y=-0.625

y = -0.625

Suppose you take a 30-question, multiple-choice test, in which each question contains 4 choices: A, B, C, and D. If you randomly
mina [271]

Answer:

(a) The probability you pass the exam is 0.0000501.

(b) The expected number of correct guesses is 7.5.

(c) The standard deviation is 2.372.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that you take a 30-question, multiple-choice test, in which each question contains 4 choices: A, B, C, and D. And you randomly guess on all 30 questions.

Since there is an assumption of only 1 correct choice out of 4 which means the above situation can be represented through binomial distribution;

P(X =x) = \binom{n}{r}\times p^{r}\times (1-p)^{n-r}  ; x = 0,1,2,3,......

where, n = number of trials (samples) taken = 30

           r = number of success = at least 60%

           p = probbaility of success which in our question is the probability

                 of a correct answer, i.e; p = \frac{1}{4} = 0.25

Let X = Number of questions that are correct

So, X ~ Binom(n = 30 , p = 0.25)

(a) The probability you pass the exam is given by = P(X \geq 18)

Because 60% of 30 = 18

P(X \geq 18) = P(X = 18) + P(X = 19) +...........+ P(X = 29) + P(X = 30)

= \binom{30}{18}\times 0.25^{18}\times (1-0.25)^{30-18} + \binom{30}{19}\times 0.25^{19}\times (1-0.25)^{30-19} +.......+ \binom{30}{29}\times 0.25^{29}\times (1-0.25)^{30-29} + \binom{30}{30}\times 0.25^{30}\times (1-0.25)^{30-30}

= 0.0000501

(b) The expected number of correct guesses is given by;

  Mean of the binomial distribution, E(X) =  n \times p

                                                                =  30 \times 0.25 = 7.5

(c) The standard deviation of the binomial distribution is given by;

      S.D.(X)  =  \sqrt{n \times p \times (1-p)}

                    =  \sqrt{30 \times 0.25 \times (1-0.25)}

                    =  \sqrt{5.625}  =  2.372
