Therefore years later, in the Republican convention of 1912 about the party's presidential nomination Taft defeated Roosevelt, so after that, Theodore Roosevelt appealed to Frank Munsey, George Walbridge Perkins among others republicans who had a progressive perspective and people who wanted to change the politics and laws, to establish their own party named The Progressive Party, with the main purpose to disband corrupt alliances between the tainted businesses and the corrupt politics, where their proposals were to put limitations on campaign fund contributions, a disminution in the tariff, the institution of a social assurance system, the implementation of an eight-hour workday and the authorization of the women's suffrage.
