From triangle AED we can find the length of a side of ABCD

AD=(4^2+4^2)^(1/2)  (pythagorean theoerem)

AD=32^(1/2)

For similar reasons as applied to the triangle AC=(2AD^2)^(1/2)

AC=(2*32)^(1/2)

AC=64^(1/2)

AC=8

The other method is the vertex is x= - b/2a =  - (-2)/2(1) = 1.
