Most people in the Republican Party do not support the LGBTQ community (with some exceptions) and believe that it’s unnatural. Most Republicans also believe that men and women and all races are equal (but maybe not as radically as the Democratic Party.) For example, you’d probably be more likely to see a left-skewing person advocating for Black Lives Matter than a more right-inclined person.

The Americas offered an abundance of raw materials and riches. Add in the land, that could be used for settlement reasons. Settlements meant more money.
