History is technically a tale or a story.

But, history is also a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes.

Also, history can be events that form off a subject, like the history of a space exploration. Which would be like what had happened on that space exploration.

History By Merriam-Webster's definition is :"<span>a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes"

But I think of it as more of the study of humans and how to stop ourselves from repeating mistakes made by our ancestors.</span>
