Harry S. Truman is the 33rd President of the United States. He led the country towards the end of World War 2 and ended the policy of "isolationism".
Regarding civil rights reforms, he submitted the first civil rights legislation in 1948 and issued executive orders in order to start integration of racial minorities in the military and federal agencies. He also presented a detailed 10 point agenda of civil rights reforms, which included voting rights and fair employment practices.
On April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States.
