Do you know the distribution property? I can't explain why you have to do that, but google search it. the number that is outside of the parenthesis will be multiplied in each of the number in the parenthesis.

-8(-8b-6) = -6b-22

the distribution property will look like this

-8 * -8b = 64b

-8 * -6 = 48

(two negative numbers make a positive)

now th equation will look like this

64b + 48 = -6b-22

you must have the variable to one side of the equation. That means you need to subtract one of them to the other side or add it depending if the number is positive or negative. For example, you can add 6b to 64b (the opposite operation of -6b is addtion making -6b a positive number) so 64b + 6b - 70b

70b + 48 = -22

solve b!

21% of the students at a High are in Maths group, 15 % are in science group, and 6 % are in both. If a student is selected rando
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

6%

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of picking a maths student = 21% = 21/100

The probability of picking a science student = 15% = 15/100 = 3/20

The probability of picking in both = 6/100 = 3/50

The probability that the student is in maths or science = 21/100 - 15/100 = 6/100 = 6%.
