Among his inventions are the lightining rod, bifocals, and the Franklin stove. He was also a newspaper editor and printer. He published the <em>Pennsylvania Gazette</em> and <em>Poor Richard's Almanac.</em> He was also associated with the <em>Pennsylvania Chronicle</em>.

After World War II the League was replaced with the United Nations.
