For numbers 1-5, choose the best way to punctuate the pause

English

5 0

Answer:

A. The ball slowly rolled around the  rim and finally, dropped through  the hoop.

Explanation:

Punctuation is the use of the grammatical signs to indicate correct sentence construction. These marks make the sentence right, indicating how the sentence is to be read or taken. The signs may be of the comma, full-stop, question mark, or an exclamation mark, among others.

From the given options, the nest sentence that punctuates it correctly for a pause is the first option. The sentence reads <em>"The ball slowly rolled around the  rim and finally, dropped through  the hoop."</em>, putting the pause (comma) after finally, where the change in the sentence is made.

The other options' use of the pause in the sentence, (sentence B- comma after rolled and rim), (sentence C uses ..... after rolled) while (sentence D used it after rim) are all wrong. "The ball rolled around the rim" is a free flow sentence with no need for a pause, while there is also no need for a pause after "rim".

Thus, the correct answer is option A.

Answer: They both contribute to the country...

So basically, we need someone who can give us hope and get things moving for our environment and country.

Explanation:

Compulsory voting, is also called mandatory voting, is the requirement in some countries that eligible citizens register and vote in elections. Penalties might be imposed on those who fail to do so without a valid reason.

Potemkin is pointing towards the poor and low class citizens.

In at least 150 words, identify a theme in Robert Lowell’s "For the Union Dead," and explain how the author’s use of symbolism h
Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Explanation:

The poem opens with the poet watching the deserted South Boston Aquarium, which he had visited as a child. The ruined building is symbolic both of his lost childhood and of the decay of Boston, undergoing massive urban renewal, which upsets such milestones as the Statehouse and the sculpture of Colonel Shaw.

The statue causes the poet to think of Shaw, an abolitionist’s son and leader of the first black regiment in the Civil War. Shaw died in the war, and his statue is a monument to the heroic ideals of New England life, which are jeopardized in the present just as the statue itself is shaken by urban renewal.

Images of black children entering segregated schools reveal how the ideals for which Shaw and his men died were neglected after the Civil War. The poem’s final stanzas return to the aquarium. The poet pictures Shaw riding on a fish’s air bubble, breaking free to the surface, but in fact, the aquarium is abandoned and the only fish are fin-tailed cars.

This poem is a brilliant example of Lowell’s ability to link private turmoil to public disturbances. The loss of childhood in the early section of the poem expands to the loss of America’s early ideals, and both are brought together in the last lines to give the poem a public and private intensity.

The poem is organized into unrhymed quatrains of uneven length, allowing a measure of flexibility within a formal structure.
