What limits on power did the delegates put into place on the constitution?
aalyn [17]

Answer:

The Articles gave Congress virtually no power to regulate domestic affairs--no power to tax, no power to regulate commerce. Without coercive power, Congress had to depend on financial contributions from the states, and they often time turned down requests.

How successful were labor unions in achieving their goals in the 1800s?
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Labour unions were not very successful in achieving their goals in the 1800s.

Workers organized unions to solve their problems.Their problems were low wages and unsafe working conditions.

The tactics used by labour unions were strike and collective bargaining. The disagreement between the needs of the employers and the demands of the employees gave rise to the evolution of the unions. The workers could not only bargain for their salary but also working conditions, job security and benefits through the union. Initially, workers formed local unions in single factories. These unions used strikes to try to force employers to increase wages or make working conditions safer.

The Meiners and Democrats oppose the American system was because they believed it Benefit only certain regions in the nation Gav
BartSMP [9]

The correct answer is B) gave the government too large a role in the economy.

The main reason Democrats opposed the American system gave the government too large a role in the economy.

We are talking about the idea of Senator Henry Clay to implement the "American System." The Democrats totally opposed his project because they considered that the system gave the federal government a big role and more power to intervene in the American economy.

Clay's American System included a special tariff that aimed to over-protect the industry of the United States, federal subsidies to improve the American infrastructure such as roads and public services, and the creation of a national bank to impulse trade.

The amendments that lowered the voting age to eighteen and gave women the right to vote were
artcher [175]

Answer:

The Nineteenth Amendment and the Twenty-sixth Amendment

 • The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.
 • The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18.

Context/details:

19th Amendment

The 19th Amendment to the Constitution reads as follows:

 • The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
 • Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

The proposal to add such an amendment was first introduced in Congress in 1878, but Congress did not pass the amendment till 1919 -- after the experience of women taking on greater roles in the country during the First World War. The amendment achieved ratification by a sufficient number of states and was added to the Constitution by August, 1920.

26th Amendment

During the 1960s in America, protests against the Vietnam War were active on college campuses across the country. Part of those protests were the demands of young people chanting, "Old enough to fight, old enough to vote." Since 18 was old enough to be drafted to fight in the war, young people argued for their right to vote as full citizens.

The 26th Amendment was passed by Congress on March 23, 1971. It was ratified by the states faster than any other amendment, achieving ratification by July 1, 1971.

The 26th Amendment is worded as follows:

 • Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
 • Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
