The correct answer to this open question is the following.

You did not include the ideas of the lesson learned in class. So we do not know the specifics of your lesson and the event describes in the article because you did not attach it.

However, we can help you by commenting on the following general terms.

Life in Sumerian Times.

Sumeria was the first civilization on planet Earth.

Historians consider that  Sumeria-Mesopotamia was established approximately 6,000 BCE, which means that they settle in the middle of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers 8,000 years ago. That region is modern-day Iraq in the Middle East.

Sumerians developed great agriculture techniques, so the daily life of Sumerians was decided to work in the farm fields growing crops in the fertile soil of the region and controlling the permanent flooding of the rivers.

Sumerians were very religious people that founded important city-states such as Uruk, Lagash, Ur, Kish, Nippur, or Eridu. They worshiped their gods who were very vulnerable deities. Sometimes they supported humans, but other times, according to Sumerian clay tablets written in the cuneiform language, the gods punished humans.

That is why Sumerians built impressive large buildings called Ziguratts to honor and worship their gods.

Ultimately, how did President Woodrow Wilson contribute to the failure of the treaty to pass in the Senate?
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

C. He refused to compromise on his idea for the League of Nations.

Explanation:

The treaty referred to here is The Treaty of Versailles, the peace treaty between the Allied Powers and Germany, ending World War II. It was overseen by Prime Minister of France Georges Clemenceau, Prime Minister of Italy Vittorio Emanuele Orlando, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Lloyd George, and President of the United States Woodrow Wilson. Some things that were arranged in the treaty are, but not limited to: Germany’s territory and sovereignties, and the establishment of League of Nations (today’s United Nations).

League of Nations were not well-received by Congress because  at the time, the Republicans were the dominant force in Congress, and they were isolationists; preferring to stay away from international affairs and focusing on keeping United States' affairs close to home. The leader of the Senate, Henry Cabot Lodge, asked for amendments to be done to the Treaty because he feels that the Treaty would cause the US to fall under a greater supranational power as represented by the League of Nations. President Wilson disapproved of these changes, and thus the treaty was never ratified.

Anika [276]
When Czar Alexander II issued an edict in 1861 ending serfdom, he also ordered that there would be universal military conscription. This meant that people of all social classes were due to serve in the army at one point in their lives, as Alexander II wanted to keep in line with the military advances of other European countries. The edict of 1861 sparked the czar to make many other reforms as well.
