As a glacier moves, it moves dirt and rock in its path. The residual deposit is known as a moraine. A Lateral Moraines is formed on the sides of a glacier, displaced on either side of the glacier.

During this movement, gold deposits may accumulate but are mixed in with the debris. As the glacier melts, the water naturally sorts gold from the lighter materials. The gold is then deposited in high quantities on bedrocks in lateral moraines
