Answer:

The 2nd most important trumpeter in early jazz was Joe King Oliver.

Explanation:

Oliver is one of the great pioneers of early jazz and was one of the first richly documented black jazz musicians. He was famous for his improvisational ability as well as his innovative use of sordines.

King Oliver worked mainly in New Orleans and later Chicago. He is regarded as a foreground figure in the style of music, which would later be called the New Orleans style. The young Louis Armstrong debuted as Oliver's second cornetist in 1923 and Armstrong talked throughout his career very warmly about him as his teacher.

Oliver also composed a number of tunes that have become standards in jazz, including Dippermouth Blues, Sweet Like This and Canal Street Blues. Two of Armstrong's best-known recordings, West End Blues and Weather Bird, are Oliver compositions.

In the 1930s, Oliver's popularity dropped sharply and, combined with problems with his teeth, eventually forced him to give up his music career. He spent his last time in poverty working at a pool table.
