What’s the importance of the character of maximiliano? What does cleofilas perception of him tell us about her

Answer:

Cleofilas is a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband in a cycle of abuse always succeeded by guilt and repentance, and violence then again. Maximiliano is her husband's friend and is said to have killed his wife.

Explanation:

That event, and Cleofilas´ disgust for that man, shows that she´s scared of how many women have been murdered like that, and how the same could happen to her.
