Why was the sonnet "Work without Hope" written?
Talja [164]

The sonnet was written around the time of spring, which came after a long winter period.

'Cause during the poem, the author wrote that the winter is long and somewhat tiring... And so on, spring is around the corner and the animals we're eating, sleeping. Doing their regular, normal schedule, as well as the plants, with their photosynthesis and all. The poem talks about the outgoing of winter and the arrival of spring.

ahrayia [7]

Answer:

individual vs. nature

Explanation:

"A character vs. nature conflict occurs when a character faces resistance from a natural force (as opposed to a supernatural force). This can mean the weather, the wilderness, or a natural disaster." - Masterclass

A deep peal of <u>thunder</u> went <em>rolling</em> and <em>tumbling</em> down the heavens...Another fierce glare lit up the <u>forest</u>, and an <em>instant crash</em> followed that seemed to rend the <u>treetops</u> right over the <em>boys'</em> heads. They clung together in terror, in the <em>thick gloom</em> that followed.

Hope this helps.

galben [10]

Answer:

B). Resiliency and hope will help people get through  even the toughest of times.

Explanation:

James Weldon Johnson's poem 'SONNET' discusses the key idea of 'resiliency and hope assisting people to get through in the toughest of the times' which is clearly reflected from the lines 13 and 14 of the poem as they say <u>'Tho’ thick the battle and tho’ fierce the fight, / There is a power making for the right</u>.' The speaker adopts an impassioned and inspiring tone that encourages the readers to 'rise up' and fight the battle against all odds with strength and valor. Thus, <u>option B</u> is the correct answer.
