saffarzadeh is an iranian poet. She expresses shame in the fact that her culture believes that boys are better than girls and the birth of the former is worthy of celebration. Her mother actually was resentful when she discovered that she had given birth to a girl. she carried on the this anger and disgust as she grew older.
