Republic was formed in Rome after the last king was deposed by the public. It acted as the representative of democracy. The aristocrats, king’s families held the high offices and in the center of this republic was the senate.

Senate comprised of elderly educated men whose advice was sought by the kings. Patrician class served as advisers to the members of the senate. Republic of Rome stood robust and resilient for centuries.  

Rome started to expand its empire but there was a clash between the patriarchs and plebeians creating civil war. This was resolved by an adept statesman Julius Caesar. His dominance was wrongly thought by Senate that he was ambitious and conspired a plot to assassinate Julius Caesar. His nephew claimed revenge on the conspirators and thus expanded the Roman Empire.
