Social Studies

Answer:

The correct answer is c) The suspect has a criminal record.

Explanation:

The police are an entity that aims to protect people and ensure that the established laws are enforced for the safety of all. But the police also have rules to follow, especially to ensure that people's rights are respected.

One of the rules that the police follow is when they must use their force in an arrest; they handle a list of situations about when using their strength. For example, the police may use reasonable force when the individual intends to flee or damage to him or others. Still, it is not justified that they use their strength in an arrest just because the person has a criminal record since that does not mean that it is a risk to people.

Martin cannot remember who invented flush toilets because he was flirting with a classmate when his history professor described
MakcuM [25]

Answer: ineffective encoding

Explanation:

Ineffective encoding could be defined as inability to process or restore information except they remember how they where stored. This is when the way information is encoded affects the ability to remember them. If a student thinks about the way he stores a concept in his book than reading them, he would remember them better when the exam is given.

This is the scenario Martin goes through when he is been asked question by the History professor

Which of the following describes the Treaty of Ghent?
stich3 [128]

The correct answer is answer 4 ("It stopped all aggression on both sides").

The Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812 between Great Britain and the United States. After both sides signed it, the borders of the two nations were restored to the lines that standed before the conflict had started, and it marked the beginning of over two centuries of peace between them.

It was signed during the Battle of New Orleans, not after. The news took about a month to reach the places in combat, but peace had already been signed before the US won that battle.

Native American hostilities continued for many years to come.

After the war ended and the treaty was signed, the United Kingdom still retained many north american territories that were under their domain before.

Hope this helps!

How are countries in the European union linked
jeka57 [31]
The EU is a political and economic union of 28 countries, which developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws. Politically, these 28 countries are linked by the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of Europe and the European Council (the last two have similar names, but they have different functionalities). Economically, by the ECB - the European Central Bank. Monetarily, by the Eurozone and the currency EURO, which is present in 19/28 countries. Also, there's a Schengen area, where passports are abolished and you can travel freely, BUT not all the countries that are in the EU, are in Schengen area (ex. Romania, Bulgaria); and vice-versa: Norway is not in the EU, but is part of the Schengen area.

I hope I helped, I used to have a "map" of interactions of all these countries in different unions/institutions, but cannot find it. If you need one to help you understand the EU better, tell me and I'll intensively look for it!

Update: here's the map.
