Answer: The Articles of Confederation did not include an executive branch and created a central government dependent on each state for raising funds. This was one of the reasons the government was weak because they could not tax citizens, and only request money from the states and the states had their own powers and state laws. The Constitution provides for a more powerful central government, uses a bicameral legislative system (House of Representatives and the Senate), and a system of shared powers between the central and state governments (federalism).
