Answer: 32

Step 1: Formula

Let’s rewrite the formula for Pythagorean theorem

a²+b²=c²

The c is going to be the hypotenuse, which is the longest angle. This number is 40 in this equation.

We know that we need to solve for b, meaning that a is 24. Let’s substitute these numbers into the equation.

a²+b²=c²

24²+b²=40²

We see that the numbers have a squared sign next to them. Though we can’t square b, we can for 24 and 40. Let’s do this now.

24²+b²=40²

576+b²=1600

We want to get b² in the left side alone. So let’s subtract 576 on both sides.

576+b²=1600
-576 -576
___________
b²= 1024

Now since b is still squared we need to undo that. Let’s do this by finding the square root on both numbers/variables.

b²= 1024

√b²= √1024

Now let’s find the answer to find the final answer for b.

√b²= √1024

b= 32

This is the answer!

Answer:

b = 32

Step-by-step explanation:

If we are talking a² + b² = c² instead of looking for the hypotenuse we look for a leg and it doesnt matter where it is placed.. so for there forth you'll do

24² + b² = 40²

and then from there you square all the numbers so then you get

576 + b² = 1600

then subtract 576 from both sides so you are left with

b² = 1024

and finally square root it

b = 32

What conic section is drawn by the parametric equations x=csc t and y cot?
Vanyuwa [196]
If we take the square of x and square of y and then subtract them:
                         (csc t)²-(cot t)²=1                      ( this eq. gets from basic identity
                               x²-y²=1......a                                               1+cot²x=csc²x)

 equation 'a' represent the equation of hyperbola which is (x²/a²)-(y²/b²) =1 with given conditions( a=1,b=1)

So, option D is correct
