The lawsuit Brown v. Board of Education was a breakthrough in the cases governed by the U.S. Supreme Court. In the judgement made under this case, the Supreme Court sustained state laws putting separate state schools or educational institutes for black and white schoolchildren to be illegal. The judgment of the Supreme Court appropriately overran the decision of Plessy V. Ferguson, which sanctioned the segregation sponsored by the state, insofar as it concerned to free education.
