Through this poem, the author remembers the old creek and compares those memories from his different periods in life ( from his youngest years to childhood to teenage years to finally his old adult years). He reflects on his life using the creek as a reference point. This meeting with the changed scenery of the creek leaves the author sad, bringing back the memories of joy and passed happy days that are never to come back.
