Answer:

horizontal gene transfer

Explanation:

Horizontal Gene Transfer (HGT) can be defined as a non-sexual process that enables the exchange of genetic information between genomes. Although HGT mainly occurs between prokaryotic genomes, an increasing number of examples involving eukaryotic host genomes have recently been described. Agrobacterium bacteria are capable of transferring and integrating DNA into the genome of eukaryotic cell hosts by the HGT mechanism. The transference of genetic material via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is widely used in biotechnology to generate plants with desired genetic sequences. In the last years, it has been shown that various bacterial species including Bartonella henselae Rhizobium etli or even Escherichia coli, are able to genetically transform eukaryotic cells under laboratory growth conditions. The genetic phenomenon of horizontal gene transfer has evolutionary significance since it enables to bypass barriers between kingdoms in order to acquire nucleotide sequences that may eventually have some adaptive advantage. Moreover, the mechanism of horizontal transfer challenges a narrow vision of the eukaryotic genome as a fixed entity.

In some plants, pointed leaves (P) are dominant over rounded leaves (p). A plant with a genotype of Pp _____.
Mrrafil [7]

According to Mendel’s laws of dominance, when a plant with dominant trait is crossed with plant with recessive trait, it results into dominant phenotype in F1 offspring. In the given question, a plant with pointed leaves (P) are dominant and plant with round leaves (p) is recessive. On crossing a pointed leaves (PP) with a plant with round leaves (pp) a heterozygous (Pp) pant with pointed leaves will be produced.

Why Is Biodiversity Important? Who Cares? Name three biological services provided by biodiversity.
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer:

Biodiversity is usually defined as the diversification of living species that exist on earth and the complexities that occurs in the ecosystem. It includes all the plants, animals, humans and micro-organisms.

The biodiversity is often affected by factors such as climate change, loss of habitat area, and occurrence of invasive species.

Three of the biological services that are provided by biodiversity are as follows-

 • A large number of medicines are being made from the various plant species that exist in an ecosystem.
 • It provides food, on which the organisms are dependent on it.
 • It also provides materials that are used for construction purpose and used as shelter.
