A filibuster is possible only in the Senate, which is almost unrestrained.

The filibuster is a right to unlimited debate on an issue. The tactic was used also in the House of Representatives until 1842, but since then the House has had rules in place for limiting duration of debate on an issue.

In the Senate, the rules allow one or more senators to continue speaking for as long as they wish and about anything they wish, unless three-fifths of the senators (60 of the 100) invoke the cloture rule in order to bring floor debate to an end. Filibusters are used as a method of delaying or blocking a measure from coming to a vote. A famous example occurred in 1986 when Senator Alfonse D’Amato spoke for nearly 24 hours straight, including some time spent simply reading names from the phone book. He was using the filibuster to block a vote on a defense spending bill that would have defunded a trainer jet program in his home state (New York).

What was one reason that Patriots were more willing to go to war with Britain than the Loyalists? (5 points)
ozzi

Answer:

d ) Patriots were more likely than Loyalists to believe in the idea of consent of the governed.

Explanation:

The first thing you would understand is that Loyalists were called Loyalists because they supported the rules of Great Britain. If they supported staying as a colony, why would they have any will in the first place to "go to war" with Great Britain if they are contend with the status they hold during the time? The only group that wanted to go to war was the Patriot group, not the Loyalist group.

What plot does Mother Jones devise to bring the plight of the child mill workers to the general public?
Mariulka [41]

Answer: She convinced other unions that the children's strike was more important.

Explanation:

Mother Jones was one of the leaders of the strike forces in the United States. At that moment, a strike of miners was being prepared. However, she then came to know about the horrible conditions in which minors work in the Kensington mill. That is why she decided to shift the focus of the strike in favour of those children. She organized a children's strike from Philadelphia to New York, and it was the first children's strike in the history of the United States.
