The best description for the similarity between the pituitary gland and the adrenal glad is that both are controlled by hormones of the hypothalamus and by input from the nervous system. Pituitary gland produces many hormones that travel through out the body, directing certain processes or stimulating other glands to produce other hormone. Adrenal gland produces hormones such as adrenaline and the steroids aldosterone and cortisol.
