Active stretching or static-active stretching is a part of exercise in which the body is stretched to it's maximum by holding a position with no assistance. For example, holding a legs up free without any support. The active stretching increases the strength and flexibility of the muscles.
The disadvantage of the active stretching is that it has a very high risk of injury. This is because of the fact that it is done without any support hence, the body part may experience a downfall during the exercise and may get injured.
